About Goldenrod

Goldenrod Village located at 1602 N Goldenrod Rd is a proposed 150-bed Housing Navigation Center designed to address the urgent housing needs of individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness in unincorporated Orange County. The center will serve as a critical resource for immediate shelter while providing coordinated, on-site supportive services aimed at promoting long-term housing stability and successful transitions to permanent housing.

Why Goldenrod Village and What It Means for Our Community

  • Addressing the Shelter Bed Shortage: Orange County currently faces a deficit of approximately 500 shelter beds, underscoring a critical need for additional bed capacity. The proposed 150-bed facility will help close this gap by providing immediate, safe shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Supporting 2026 Point-in-Time Count Data: The 2026 Point-in-Time Count identified 1,979 individuals experiencing homelessness across Orange County. This facility will help serve a portion of this population, reducing unsheltered homelessness and supporting improved community health and stability.
  • Promoting Long-Term Homelessness Reduction Strategies: Expanded shelter capacity enables stronger connections to case management and supportive services that lead to permanent housing. This approach helps reduce repeat episodes of homelessness and supports long-term stability.
  • Ensuring Community Compatibility: The facility will be fully gated, monitored by security cameras, and staffed 24/7 to ensure the safety of both clients and the broader community.
  • Providing Tailored Services and Pathways to Independence: Clients will participate in individualized services including mental health care, job training, housing assistance, and case management. These supports are designed to create clear pathways toward long-term self-sufficiency.
  • Targeting Areas of Greatest Need Through Strategic Location: Proximity to areas with high concentrations of homelessness enables more effective outreach and service delivery. This location allows for timely intervention and more efficient connection to care.
  • Aligning with Orange County’s Homelessness Reduction Goals: Goldenrod Village supports Orange County’s broader commitment to reducing homelessness and improving public health outcomes. The project reflects a coordinated, proactive investment in housing stability and community well-being.
  • Implementing a Structured, Phase-Based Support Model: A step-by-step service model will guide clients from stabilization through skill-building to permanent housing placement. Tailored support at each stage promotes sustained progress and long-term independence.

We are currently in the design development phase of this new facility; therefore, the physical footprint remains subject to change based on the finalized architectural plans.
